Company Profile Real Estate Appraisers and Consultants, LLC was founded by George E. (Jake) Knight, Jr., MAI and Joseph B. (Joe) Woods, SRA in January 2002. Mr. Knight and Mr. Woods have shared a long professional relationship together and their partnership was a natural joining of complimentary talents in the real estate appraisal field. Together, they combine over 40 years of real estate appraisal, litigation, and brokerage experience. George E. (Jake) Knight, Jr., MAI A native of Columbia and a graduate of the University of South Carolina (May, 1987), Mr. Knight has a BS in Business Administration, with a double major in Real Estate and Finance. His real estate career began as a Broker with one of Columbia’s largest real estate firms. After selling real estate, he began his appraisal career in 1991 and opened his own real estate appraisal and brokerage firm in 1995. With over 18 years of real estate experience, he has been involved in transactions from the brokerage prospective, the appraisal prospective as well as the investment perspective. Currently, daily involvement with real estate includes a concentration in the appraisal of commercial properties, litigation support, brokerage and consulting. As a qualified expert witness, he performs litigation support and expert testimony having appeared in court in South Carolina and North Carolina. He is an active member of Appraisal Institute and holds the prestigious MAI designation. He is currently the government relations chair of the SC Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and is Chapter Tresurer for 2008. An active participant in the Leadership Development Advisory Council with the Appraisal Institute, he will be the Vice-Chair at the LDAC meetings in Washington, DC in 2008. He is also a member of the Greater Columbia Association of Realtors and the International Right of Way Association. A 2005 Leadership Columbia graduate, he continues his involvement with the Chamber of Commerce with service on the Leadership Columbia Committee and Leadership Columbia Alumni Association Board. He is also a member of the Columbia Rotary Club. Real Estate consulting includes helping buyers, sellers and existing property owners make informed decisions with their properties. He has experience appraising vacant land, residential, multi-family and commercial properties. He is experienced in all types of real estate appraisal with a concentration in residential properties and holds an SRA Designation with the Appraisal Institute. Working primarily in South Carolina he has also completed appraisals in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina for clients including various mortgage companies, banks, law firms, and individuals. He is qualified as an expert witness in Circuit Court for South Carolina. Prior to his career in the appraisal profession, he was active in the residential and commercial construction industries. She began working in the legal profession March 1983. She has 17 years legal experience as a secretary/paralegal including litigation experience with personal injury, collections, and condemnation cases.
